Project Manager, Facilities - Job Opening ID 551792

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

We are seeking a high-energy, team-oriented individual to provide facilities infrastructure project management and engineering support in a dynamic R&D community.

The incumbent will have demonstrated abilities in the following areas and job functions:

  • Management of all aspects of infrastructure and construction projects from conception to completion, with tight timelines and strict budget control. Continually track and communicate frequently the project status using appropriate tools (spreadsheets, Gantt charts, update reports).
  • Knowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical, and piping engineering, design, and drawings; building information modeling; building codes; fire/life safety detection and suppression systems; safety and environmental management best practices and procedures applicable to facility projects; renovations; and construction projects in a laboratory or R&D environment.
  • Communication with internal customers to determine their needs and requirements for facility-related projects, then development of work scope, budgets, and schedules to provide innovative, cost effective solutions.
  • Management of all elements of contracts for maintenance and repair services, renovation and construction, and equipment replacement projects; reviewing contractor invoices for contract compliance, analyzing and negotiating contractor claims and change order requests.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical personnel, use of standard computer software for presentations, fiscal monitoring and daily communication.
  • Effective leadership with direct and indirect supervision of staff as well as team building and consensus building skills with colleagues, supervisors and subordinates.
  • Support of the department’s preventive maintenance and on-demand work order request system; recognizing maintenance and repair problems, developing options for action and recommending solutions to include preparing work orders, cost implications, sustainability awareness, and energy savings.
  • Support of the Health, Safety, and Environment department in all regulatory requirements. Performing/managing all work in a safe manner according to OSHA and internal guidelines, promoting a culture of safety in all aspects of job performance.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Proven track record of project development and management skills,
  • Demonstrated capabilities to work with outside contractors and outside agencies to coordinate critical project work within regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, analyze, draw conclusions and present data to various levels throughout the organization in graphical and other forms
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal customers and community
  • Proficiency in use of AutoCAD current version and Microsoft Office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Engineering or Construction Management

5 – 8 years of extensive and diverse project and facility management experience in a laboratory or R&D setting
