Research & Development Communication Specialist, High Performance Materials Job Opening ID: 552102



Reporting to the Center Director, with dotted line reporting to Vice President, Corporate Communications, Saint-Gobain North America, the Research and Development Communication Specialist is responsible for developing strategies for, evaluating, planning, organizing, contributing to, and managing all communication mediums to help improve internal communication and promote our overall brand awareness, while showcasing Northboro R&D Center’s company culture and driving employee engagement.


  • Lead external communication for the NRDC, including the development of strategies (in partnership with Delegation Communications and Talent Acquisition) to raise the employer brand and company culture profiles and strengthen its corporate image globally through various communication mediums (social media, websites, career fairs, email blasts, blogs, technical publications, journals, presentations, etc.)
  • Lead internal communications within NRDC and across Saint-Gobain, to support employee awareness and understanding of Center initiatives, and to ensure consistency and accuracy in the way in which the R&D teams present our employer brand to the outside world and to internal employees
  • Develop exciting, engaging and original content that promotes our values, culture, products and people
  • Manage NRDC’s external website, including developing and posting of content, and planning and executing projects to improve design and functionality
  • Partner with the human resources leadership team and Delegation Internal Communications to ensure consistent internal and external communications, employer brand messaging, and to assist in collegiate outreach
  • Manage, monitor, and engage with users on all key internal and external communication platforms
  • Plan, coordinate and execute specific communication initiatives on new and emerging platforms
  • Identify, interpret and capitalize on emerging communication and company culture trends
  • Monitor, measure and report the success of communication
  • Create, maintain and execute an editorial calendar and organize content
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Excellent communication, writing, creative storytelling, video, and editing skills
  • Ability to work with teams effectively and manage multiple priorities and demanding timelines
  • Must excel at content creation and be able to create editorial content quickly and efficiently
  • Interest in science and a strong technical curiosity or previous experience in an industrial or technical organization


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, Filmmaking, or English with 2-5 years’ experience
  • Knowledge of HTML5, and CSS, and Drupal or WordPress required
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of search engine optimization, digital marketing, and the latest social media innovations preferred
