Research Engineer-Filtration - Job Opening ID: 569944

Saint-Gobain Life Sciences is looking for a driven, talented, and energetic entry-level researcher to conduct hands-on laboratory work for research & development projects in Filtration Business.


As a Research Engineer, the candidate will support the team in terms of the development of filtration technologies and processes. The candidate will support various phases of technical development progress, which includes lab-scale prototype, pilot, scale-up, and implementation of R&D processes into manufacturing. Under the direction of the supervisor, the candidate will take project objectives and transform them into actionable tasks, including learning and studying new technologies, planning and execution of lab experiments, analysis and presentation of results, and generation of technical reports. In addition to the candidate’s primary projects, the candidate will be expected to support other projects in the team on a need base.


This entry-level position will have a focus on hands-on research and development work in a lab environment under the direction of the supervisor.


The candidate is expected to deliver the following: 

  • Build essential knowledge of polymer membranes and filtration technologies.
  • Understand and master all established characterization techniques.
  • Support new product development and new characterization method development.
  • Write SOPs, technical reports, and project milestone reports.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory experimentation following SOPs and EHS requirements.
  • Conduct experiments and records keeping in an organized and well-planned way.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe lab space.
  • Analyze data and present results in written and oral form.
  • Adhere to project timeline and meet deadlines.
  • Multitask, be able to prioritize and manage projects.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, team members, and business stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with others, including R&D, application engineering, manufacturing, and marketing.


  • BS in Material Sciences (e.g., Polymer, Chemistry, Biochemistry), or Chemical Engineering.
  • Knowledge on polymeric filtration membranes and filters, and related manufacturing process, validation and applications are preferred.
  • Knowledge of biology, biochemistry, and protein analysis are a plus.
  • Co-op or industrial internship is a plus.
