This position will have a focus on research and development in all aspects of the group’s technical area and new product development, thereby building technical depth in multiple areas. Under the direction of the group leader, the candidate will also design, run experiments, produce lab scale samples, operate pilot equipment, and analyze the experimental outcomes. In addition to designing experiments for the candidate’s primary projects, the candidate will be expected to conduct experiments to support projects led by others.

Your main job responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizes sound technical knowledge of materials, processes, techniques, and products to improve on product performance to reduce costs, to maximize production, and to support new knowledge research.
  • You will utilize broad technical background and experience to develop and/or improve products, and process performance.
  • Manages and documents projects effectively under minimal supervision by a technical leader.
  • Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.
  • Seeks out others to enhance and streamline development and decision making.

  • The Incumbent may supervise work of interns, Research Technicians or Engineer during project assignments
  • Able to develop and manage the development of lab projects related to new tests pertinent to the goals and direction of the group
  • Sound understanding of design of experiments, formulations, and material mechanical behavior.
  • Basic understanding of waterborne and/or solvent borne coating technology
  • Basic Organic /Polymer Chemistry Understanding




  • Must possess a body of technical work commensurate with their years of experience including but not limited to: demonstration of familiarity with statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions based on a collection of basic data and interpretation.
  • Project leadership including project management, team collaboration, and oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Sound understanding of design of experiments, formulations, and material mechanical behavior.
  • Surface coating using pulsed electroplating, electroplating, and electroless film deposition methods.
  • Possess a mind set for the value of proper and safe handling of chemicals and the environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues at various levels.
  • Develop understanding of company policies and corporate structure.
  • Respectful communication and ability to collaborate in a team environment required.
  • Oral and written communication is expected to be concise, scientifically relevant and accurate.



  • BS Degree with a minimum of 3+ years’ experience (hands on experience with manufacturing processes/equipment in an industrial or research setting), or an entry level candidate with a MS degree.
  • Co-op or intern experience is a plus.
