Senior Research Information Specialist - Technology Information Services - Job Opening ID: 553903

The Technology Information Services team and the Northboro Research and Development center (NRDC) partners with R&D leaders and technical staff to provide professional information services in support of R&D projects. We are seeking candidates with a technical subject specialty, a passion for information services, and enthusiasm for contributing that expertise to fellow engineers and scientists.

 In this position you will use a variety of research skills encompassing search services, information management, and systems specification and development. You will focus on providing information research and analysis services to a materials science community.  This will be done as the incumbent:

  • Stays aware of technologies and advancements in current scope of work.   
  • Utilizes sound technical knowledge of materials to identify business development opportunities. 
  • Manages and documents projects effectively without supervision by a technical leader.   
  • Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.   
  • Seeks out others to enhance and streamline development and decision making. 
  • Guidance on project objectives and technical approach are provided but autonomous execution is expected.   
  • The incumbent is required to develop and present presentations for executive review. 
  • Able to communicate technically with internal competencies, customers and university collaborators and utilize knowledge to advance projects and identify productive synergies.   
  • Carries at least one major project through to successful completion with little assistance from supervisor. 



  • Demonstrated experience in comprehension of concepts and technologies from engineering and physical science disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical literature assessments and application in a laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing information tools and processes.
  • Sound technical knowledge to research and provide customized information to R&D and business teams.
  • Oral and written communication to be concise and scientifically relevant, accurate and adaptable to a variety of audiences.


  • BS Degree with a minimum of 7+ years of experience or MS with 3+ years of experience plus demonstrated technical judgment/accomplishments or an entry level PhD in engineering and physical sciences.
  • MS in Library/Information sciences in addition to technical degree is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary to communicate with all levels within the organization and various R&D teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in comprehension of concepts and technologies from engineering and physical science disciplines is required.
