Senior Research Technician - Aero, Films & Fabrics - Job Opening ID: 560520

Saint‐Gobain Research North America is looking for an experienced, ambitious, creative and highly motivated technician to join the Aero, Films and Fabrics team. This business develops a wide range of high‐performance films and fabrics.


We are looking for a candidate with careful attention to detail and exceptional organization, communication, versatility, and technical problem solving skills. The role will focus on new product  development, technology transfer and scale‐up, and product and process improvement.  The candidate  will perform hands‐on experimentation and testing and provide crucial support for manufacturing processes.


The Senior Research Technician safely performs advanced specialized technical functions involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating, and/or solving problems concerning complex processes, equipment and products for assigned areas.

  • Supports engineers and scientists on R&D team with their projects.
  • Executes and/or supports commercial and manufacturing support requests.
  • Manages and documents projects and tasks effectively with supervision.
  • Performs preliminary statistical data analysis and present results; maintain lab notebook.
  • Plays leading role in lab management: safety aspects, equipment maintenance, 5S, lab audit preparation and action follow‐up, lab postings, regular equipment checks etc.
  • Demonstrates open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts hands‐on experimental work.
  • Collects, analyzes and reports data obtained from lab equipment.
  •  Able to work in a plant environment as needed to scale up products or processes.
  • Able to travel within US as required.


  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with reporting software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated hands‐on experimental work history.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety operations.
  • Ability to work with a diverse project team in an open and collaborative mode.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


  • High School diploma or GED (demonstrated equivalent) with 4‐7 years of experience on technical related field of study/interest required.
  • Polymer‐related coursework or certificates (e.g. chemistry, formulation, processing preferred).
